Franck Ribery has committed his long-term future to Bayern Munich by signing a new four-year contract with the club.
Ribery said that towards the end of last season that he wanted to extend sign a new deal with the European Champions and following the beginning of pre-season training Bayern took the opportunity to tie down the three-time Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal winner.
“I’m really pleased,” Ribery told the club’s official website. “I always said how great it feels to be at FC Bayern.
“I have a good feeling for me and my family and I hope things will carry on the way they were in the past year.”
It will be interesting to see how Pep Guardiola uses Ribery this season. Under Jupp Heynckes Ribery played mainly on the left, but there have been some stories coming out of Munich that Guardiola wants to see if Ribery can play a more central role this season, more like a No. 10 than a No. 11.
