I admit I was shocked to read that FC Dallas had fired their coach Steve Morrow earlier this week. The hammering by the LA Galaxy last week was Dallas’s third loss in four games, but even still they are still in the thick of things out west, being only only 3 points out of first place.
Morrow a former FC Dallas player and assistant manager went 13-12-5 last year and led Dallas to the playoffs for an MLS record-tying 10th time where Dallas were knocked out once again in the first-round.
“I felt the team was heading in the wrong direction and that we needed to make this decision at this time,” general manager Michael Hitchcock said. “Losing 5-1 to Los Angeles in front of our biggest crowd was a factor.”
So FC Dallas needs to go in a new direction, but what direction is that? If they had beaten the Galaxy instead of losing, they would be in first place
According to the Dallas Morning News the answer to FC Dallas; prayers might be Oscar Pareja, who is a former FC Dallas player and coach and is under contract with the U.S. Soccer Federation.
Maybe Pareja is the answer in Dallas, but I think this firing is a knee-jerk reaction by an inexperienced general manager who is in over his head.
