Juventus left-back Paolo De Ceglie is out of the UEFA Champions League first knockout round tie against Chelsea FC after being ruled out for at least six weeks with a chest injury.
The 22-year-old was forced off 23 minutes into Wednesday’s Coppa Italia quarter-final tie with SSC Napoli after an accidental collision with Walter Gargano and underwent a scan today which revealed a fractured rib that caused a collapsed lung. “He will not be able to train again for at least 45 days,” said Juventus in a statement. De Ceglie, who recently renewed his contract with the Bianconeri until 2013, will be unavailable against Chelsea on 25 February and 10 March. Midfielder Cristiano Zanetti was ruled out of those games earlier this week with a recurrence of a thigh injury while a similar problem has made defender Giorgio Chiellini a doubt.
