David Luiz Tells Chelsea He Wants To Go To Barca

David-LuizThe Daily Mail is reporting that David Luiz has dopped a transfer bombshell on Chelsea, just a week before the season starts.

Luiz’s agent met with Chelsea officials and reportedly told them that he wants to move to Barcelona, according to reports in Spain.

Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo today claims Barcelona’s initial bid of £25m was laughed out of the room by Chelsea, though the firm interest was enough for the player to inform the Blues that he wanted to leave.

Luiz’s stance has encouraged the La Liga champions, who are now prepared to raise their offer to around £31m. That, however, falls £12m short of Chelsea’s minimum expectation.

As is typical with a Barcelona transfer request, Daniel Alves publicly came out yesterday and said how great it would be to have that player at the Camp Nou

‘I always want the best for my friends and I tell them to come here if they can. As well as that, he is a great player.

‘The problem is not whether he wants to come, but that in the end you have to get away from Mourinho – and that is not going to be easy.

‘The idea of facilitating David Luiz coming to Barca would not pass through his head, and even less if it is to strengthen us. It is more than difficult for us, almost impossible.’

The problem for Chelsea is not just that this is Barcelona. Even if Barca paid the £43m that Chelsea want, there is less than 3 weeks until the season starts, meaning it would be extremely difficult to bring in another top class defender like Luiz before the transfer window closes.
