AS Roma made it very clear on Tuesday that they have no intention of selling star Daniele De Rossi to Manchester City or anyone in January.
It has been a tough season for De Rossi who has struggled to adapt to new Roma coach Zdenek Zeman’s 4-3-3 formation.
But at a press conference on Tuesday Roma president James Pallotta said:
“We have no intention of selling him. We’re not in touch with any other clubs and we have not received any offers. It’s all speculation.”
Director general Franco Baldini confirmed the words of the club’s American chief.
“The President enjoyed himself this morning by reading about how many clubs we had sold De Rossi to,” Baldini noted. “As I’ve always said, there is no intention of selling him.”
De Rossi has almost five years to run on his Roma contract and is thought to be the highest paid player in Serie A.
De Rossi is also the face of Roma, and with the club announcing that it plans to build a new stadium in the next five years, it makes no sense then to sell the clubs best player.
