Forget the likes of Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard coming to MLS. The European superstar that would drag even the Boston Globe’s Dan Shaughnessy to watch a soccer game (ask NE Revs fans what Shaughnessy thinks of soccer) is Cristiano Ronaldo. And he is coming to MLS!! We maybe, someday, potentially.
Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes has been talking to the press this week, knocking back speculation of his client returning to Manchester United, and claiming that the Real Madrid star will move to the US after his stay in Spain is over.
“This is the best of all time. No one will be like him,” said Mendes.
“Maybe he will go to the USA [after finishing at Madrid]. God will decide.
“In all cases, he will not go to Paris.”
Ronaldo has been in the form of his life for Los Blancos this season, scoring a staggering 26 goals in 15 league appearances this season for the European champions. He also helped them to lift the Club World Cup before Christmas, as they continue their impressive year of winning trophies.
The MLS single season scoring record is 27 goals. If Ronaldo is scoring 26 in 15 La Liga games, how many goals do you think he would get in MLS?
