It has bene generally assumed in the media that despite screwing-up his transfer on deadline day, that Real Madrid will still sign David de Gea to a pre-contract in January and that the Manchester United goalkeeper will be playing at the Bernabéu next summer.
But a lot could happen between now and then, especially when 80% of the Madrid fans said that they preferred Keylor Navas over de Gea.
So could de Gea possibly decide to stay at Manchester United and sign a new contract that will make him the highest paid goalkeeper in the world?
That is exactly the advice that de Gea’s agent Jorge Mendes appear to be giving him according to Spanish TV programme El Chiringuito.
The storyline goes is that de Gea fears being frozen out by Louis van Gaal when he returns to Old Trafford after the international break, and with the Euro’s coming up next summer, he knows that he needs to be playing every week if he is to go into the competition as Spain’s top goalkeeper.
So Mendes has advised De Gea to now make peace with Manchester United and sign a new contract following the collapse of his move.
