Former Manchester player and current Villarreal star Giuseppe Rossi has been heavily linked with a move away from Villarreal this summer. Most reports have the 24-year-old Italian heading to Serie A, but Rossi has opened the door for a sensational return to Manchester United.
Rossi says he is ready to quit Villarreal, but only for a move to one of the world’s three biggest teams.
“I think it’s a dream for all soccer players to play for the biggest clubs whether it’s Manchester United, Barca or Real Madrid. Those are the best clubs in the world, so I’m no different. Therefore, I want to keep working hard and see what can come out of it.”
Rossi joined United from Parma as a 17-year-old in 2004 but could not break into the United first team ahead of Ruud van Nistelrooy, Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney. It was no surprise then when he was sold to Villarreal four years ago for £6.6million.
Since moving to Spain, Rossi has developed into a top striker, scoring 32 goals on La Liga last season. I thought I read somewhere that when Rossi moved to Villarreal that United set up the deal so that they would have first right to buy him back. Does anyone know anything about this?
Barcelona are reported to be leading the chase for Rossi who is valued at around £30million. But then Barca are linked with everyone at the moment, and they cannot afford Rossi, Sanchez and Rossi. Which might just open the door for a sensational move back to England for Rossi.
