According to reports in Spain, Chelsea are close to signing Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic on loan for the coming season.
The two clubs have been in talks for weeks over the futures of Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois and during those negotiations the future of Kovacic came up.
Kovacic has been very clear that he wants to leave Madrid because he wants to play more. He was expected to return from his post-World Cup holidays over the weekend, but he has stayed at home, putting pressure on Madrid to find home a new hoe.
A Kovacic move to Chelsea ticks the boxes for all parties. The Croatian international will receive the playing time he desperately craves, Chelsea will be reinforced in midfield with a fantastic footballer and Madrid will still be in control of a player who they have great faith in.
The agreement between the clubs will be announced in the next few hours and Kovacic will soon depart for London to embark on his new adventure.
