For the second time in four days, Chelsea struggled away to a team in the relegation zone. Unlike on Saturday there was no late rescue as Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw with Hull City.
The point increases Chelsea’s gap over Manchester United to 2 points and to 6 points over Arsenal, who Chelsea play on Sunday. Hull, one of four sides on 21 points near the foot of the table, remain in the relegation zone on goal difference
Hull took the lead via a corner when Steven Mouyokolo found himself unmarked to head past Petr Czech. But Didier Drogba, in his first game back after African Nations Cup duty with Ivory Coast, tied the game up with a free kick right before half-time.
Both team missed chances in the second half to steal all three pints, but overall this was a very poor performance by Chelsea.
