Cerezo Is Getting Tired Of All Those Falcao Questions

Atletico Madrid President Enrique Cerezo is feeling the pressure over Radamel Falcao’s transfer status, snapping at reporters who questioned him about speculation linking the striker him with a move to Chelsea.

“I will not answer,” Cerezo stormed when cornered by reporters after a RFEF meeting. “Enough is enough. What do you want, that Falcao leaves Madrid and goes to Chelsea? If so, tell him.

“What do you want me to tell you? There comes a time when the stew smells like sick. Falcao is with Atletico Madrid for years to come and that’s it.”

On current form Falcao is probably the third best striker in La Liga and the world. He is joint top scorer in La Liga with eight goals and his performance in the Uefa SuperCup where he ripped Chelsea apart got the attention of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.

Abramovich is said to be planning a £46million (57 million euros) bid for Falcao in January. Falcao’s release clause is £46m and Atletico are determined not to lose their prized asset for anything less.

The one potential stumbling block on any deal for Falcao is that when Atletico bought him for £35m from Porto last year, some of that transfer fee was funded by a third-party consortium which included the South American’s agent, Jorge Mendes. The Premier League does not allow third-party deals with players, meaning it might be difficult to get the deal done during the January transfer window.
