Midfielder Santi Cazorla believes Villarreal have put their recent dip in form behind them, and are beginning to reproduce the excellent football of their early campaign.
Villarreal, runners-up in La Liga last season, lost just twice in their first 21 games of the season in all competitions.
But the run came to an end just before Christmas when a 2-0 Champions League loss at Celtic sparked a sequence of five defeats, two draws and one win in eight games either side of the winter break.
“It’s very difficult to maintain the same level throughout the season. All teams suffer from this,” said the Spain international. We’ve not had many good games in recent times, but we’ve shown that we are improving and now we are much more relaxed,” he added, referring to the two wins and a draw in their last three matches. “We’re getting back to being the team we were at the start of the season- it’s just in time.”
