Malaga picked up their first points of the season with a 4-0 thumping of newly-promoted Granada at the Estadio La Rosaleda.
New signings Santi Cazorla and Joaquin Sanchez shared the goals between them as the big-spending club began to see some returns on their heavy summer outlay.
The result gets Malaga’s season up and running following last weekend’s disappointing 2-1 defeat at Sevilla and lifts them to eighth place in the league. Granada, in their first season back in the top flight since 1976, drop to the bottom of the standings.
Cazorla opened the scoring after four minutes, the Spain international finding the bottom corner after picking up Sergio Duda’s cross.
Former Valencia ace Joaquin then made it two, turning in Jesus Gamez’s cross on 25 minutes.
Cazorla took his tally for his new club to three in two games with his second of the night just after the restart with a 25-yard free-kick.
And the playmaker then turned provider to lay on a second for Joaquin to seal an emphatic victory.
