The Carlos Tevez transfer situation took another fascinating turn tonight as Tevez fired back angrily after City had rejected his transfer request.
Yesterday Tevez shocked City by turning in this transfer request and this morning City fired back, rejecting the request and putting all the blame at City’s agent Kia Joorabchian.
So this evening, Tevez responded to City’s attack’s saying:
“I have not been influenced by anyone else in making this decision. It is something I have felt for some time and have spent many hours thinking this through. I wanted to leave in the summer, but was influenced then and convinced to return to the club. Sadly, my feelings have not changed. I hugely resent the management’s suggestions that I have been unduly influenced by others. I am disappointed that the management should now see fit to try to portray the situation in another light. My relationship with certain executives and individuals at the club has broken down and is now beyond repair. I do not wish to expand on this at this stage. They know, because I have told them.”
Tevez claimed that he told City that he wanted to leave last Wednesday:
“I can confirm I have handed a transfer request to the chairman of Manchester City Football Club, And now I need to clear my head and think because this is an important part of my career. My feelings have not changed and it is regrettable we have reached this situation. I could have signed an improved contract, offered by the club for this season, however this decision is not about money. I have made that clear to both the board and the management on several occasions.”
Note that Tevez is saying that he turned down City’s new contract offer, while City are saying they never made him a new offer.
From afar it looks like Tevez and Man City are set for a nasty divorce as the rhetoric is getting ramped up on both sides.
The question that is unknown is what Tevez’s desired end game is. is it to leave England and go back to Argentina? Is it to force a transfer from City to Real Madrid or is it simply to get more money .
