FC Internazionale Milano will be deprived the services of Esteban Cambiasso for at least a month after the Argentinian midfielder injured his right knee during a pre-season friendly with Juventus on Friday.
Surgery required
The 28-year-old is due to undergo surgery and will miss his team’s start to the season as Inter vie to defend their Serie A title and clinch the UEFA Champions League.
“Inter’s medical staff will perform an arthroscopic operation, which will be scheduled in the next few days,” read a club statement.
A crucial member of the Nerazzurri midfield since joining in 2004, the former Real Madrid CF player can expect to sit out his side’s opening UEFA Champions League group game on 15/16 September as well the local derby with city rivals AC Milan on 29 August.
