Bayern reportedly paid €25m for Thaigo, which is €7m more than his release clause.
Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge on the Bayern wen site added:
“Thiago Alcantara was the biggest wish of our new coach Pep Guardiola. We are pleased that we have succeeded in this great transfer.
“Thiago has only just been named the best player at the European Under-21 Championship. He is a fantastic player with great perspective, which will strengthen Bayern.”
While Thiago is a terrific talent, the question of where he will fit into the Bayern lineup has to be determined. They are what you might call loaded in midfield with Ribery, Robben, Gotze, Kroos, Martinez, Shaqiri, Schweinsteiger, Gustavo, and now Thiago. Wow!
