Our FC Barcelona fan site is reporting that Barcelona are considering putting a sponsors name on their shirts. From the article:
One of the things that has set Barcelona apart from other teams is that Barca has in the past refused to put a sponsors name on their shirts, instead preferring to promote UNICEF.
But that might be changing. Barcelona’s money problems have been well documented and one option being discussed by the clubs board is put a sponsors name on their shirts.
Based on the deals that Manchester United and Liverpool have signed recently, Barca would expect to receive about 95 million euros for a four-year deal.
Reports from New York where UNICEF’s headquarters are, say that UNICEF understands the financial problems that Barca have and that even if Barcelona does sign a shirt sponsor that UNICEF’s name will still remain on the sleeves.
