He is the best coach in football and Barcelona want to tie him up with a new long-term contract.
Media reports say that Barca are set to offer Pep Guardiola a five-year contract to stave off growing interest from Chelsea, reports from the English press suggest.
Guardiola only signed a one-year contract when Sandro Rosell took over as Barca president in the summer and he has seemed reluctant to sign a lengthy deal with the Spanish champions.
Pep Guardiola’s agent Jose Maria Orobitg has sought to play down rumours linking the Barcelona boss with a move away from Camp Nou telling calciomercato.it earlier this week:
“At this moment there is nothing with another club. I have not had any direct contact with Inter, only questions by other agents, but we are not currently contemplating a departure. Guardiola’s contract is expiring in June, it is too early to begin negotiations for the renewal, but Pep has always preferred to renew from year to year. Then in football you never know. Chelsea and Manchester United? No, I have not had any contact with them. I think that next season Pep will still be on Barcelona’s bench. He’s very well here, is very Catalan and is a special coach”.
