Sílvio, who is a Portuguese international defender, was signed from Braga for a fee reported to be in the region of €8m and has signed a five-year deal at the Vicente Calderón.
The Lisbon-born player scored one goal in 20 Liga appearances last term and has also featured twice in Portugal’s EURO 2012 qualifying campaign.
