Barcelona attacker Alexis Sanchez will not be sold in the January transfer window according to his agent Fernando Felicevich.
The Chile international has been unable to hold down a regular place in the Barcelona line-up and that has led his name to be linked with a move away from Spain. But his representative sees no reason why the 23-year-old would want to leave Barca.
“Alexis will stay in Barcelona,” he told todomercadoweb.es.
“He has no reason to leave as he is in the best team in the world. Barcelona will not sell Alexis in any case. He has returned after injury and played well.”
Felicevich also said every player at the Catalan giants can learn something from Argentina captain Lionel Messi adding:
“Barca have Messi and he is a player that everyone can learn from.”
Yes Sanchez can learn from Messi, but he is finding out, like David Villa is, that Barcelona are turning into a one-man team. They have some of the best midfielders in the world, but the focus of there attack is to get the ball to Messi so he can score. And with Messi’s goal scoring prowess nobody can argue that the tactic is not working.
But if you are a forward like Sanchez, or David Villa is gets increasingly difficult to keep playing second-fiddle to the likes of Messi.
So while Sanchez will not be sold in January, I would not be surprised to see him and/or David Villa go in the summer.
