AC Milan have signed goalkeeper Flavio Roma from Monaco for an undisclosed fee and released Željko Kalac.
Roma, 35, has signed a one-year contract and could start the season as the Rossoneri’s No1 with Christian Abbiati continuing to recover from an injury to his right knee sustained in March. Marco Storari and Dida are also in contention for a starting place in Leonardo’s side.
Roma has been capped three times by the Azzurri, most recently in August 2005, and returns to Italy after playing 203 league games over eight seasons for Monaco. He was a League Cup winner with Monaco in 2005 and also played in their 3-0 UEFA Champions League final defeat by Porto in 2004.
The 37-year-old Kalac, whose contract was due to expire in 2010, leaves after four years at San Siro.
