It was a deal that seemed to drag on forever, but AC Milan has finally reached a deal to sign Sampdoria forward Antonio Cassano. Cassano, who has been suspended by Sampdoria since October, is expected to formally sign for Milan once the transfer window opens in early January.
Milan hope to gain Sampdoria’s permission for Cassano to go on their mid-season training camp to Dubai later this month as the Serie A does not resume until Jan. 6.
While Cassano has a chequered past, this is a really good signing for Milan. They gain an much-needed extra forward as injuries to Filippo Inzaghi and Alexandre Pato have meant Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been bearing too much of the scoring burden.
The deal probably means that Ronaldinho will be leaving Milan with his contract up in June.
