Manchester United have reportedly told Inter Milan that they are willing to sell them Paul Pogba, but only if they get Lautaro Martinez in return.
It appears that Pogba is keen to reunite with Antonio Conte, since the two worked so well together at Juventus.
The speculation over the World Cup winner’s future at Old Trafford has not died down during his absence from the pitch and the newspaper claims Inter have the makeweight to be in pole position for the former Bianconeri’s signature.
Martinez is valued at around €80million, while United insist Pogba is worth €150m.
Pogba has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, but that move is difficult as Madrid president Florentino Pérez does not rate him as highly as his manager Zinedine Zidane.
The path back to Turin got a lot more complicated with the signing of Dejan Kulusevski recently, with the youngster joining an already crowded midfield.
That leaves Pogba and his agent Mino Raiola with very few options, which is why the Inter link is being welcomed by the Pogba camp.
Pogba has frustrated during his time in England, rarely showing the form that made him a star at Juventus and a World Cup winner. But Conte has coached Pogba before and knows how to get the best from him.
Anytime you deal with Raiola, its all about the money. I cannot see Inter paying Pogba somewhere in the region of €12m a year net in wages. That would totally blow us Inter’s wage structure.
Plus, in order to get Pogba, Inter would have to give up Lautaro, who has scored eight goals in 16 Serie A games this season, and is turning into one of the best strikers in Europe. You can make a case that within 2 years that the 22-year-old Argentina international will be worth more than Pogba.
What do you think of a Lautaro Martinez plus cash for Paul Pogba deal? Would you do it?
