Real Madrid have tabled a bid of £145million to sign Manchester United star Paul Pogba, according to reports. in Spain.
The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to the Bernabeu after admitting that he was looking for a ‘new challenge’ earlier this summer.
According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Real are keen to wrap up a deal for the Frenchman with just 10 days left to do so. The English window closes on August 8 and while Spanish teams can buy up until the end of the month, United are unlikely to sell when they have no option to bring in a replacement.
Juventus are also keen on reuniting with the World Cup-winning midfielder and could involve forward Paulo Dybala in a player-plus-cash deal.
However, other Spanish news outlets are confident the move with Real will go ahead due to United’s interest in potential replacements.
They are said to be close to signing Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon and Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
Milinkovic-Savic’s agent is due to fly into London to hold further talks with United while a tearful Fernandes struggled to hide his emotions during a friendly defeat by Valencia on Sunday in what is thought to be his final game for Sporting.
Lazio boss Simone Inzaghi insisted he wanted Milinkovic-Savic to stay, but admitted he could not force him to remain in Italy.
‘My thoughts are that I’d like Milinkovic-Savic to stay,’ the 43-year-old said.
‘But I also believe the club has to consider offers when they come in and then make a decision.
‘Milinkovic is 24 years old now, he’s no longer a kid. I can give him advice, he is at our disposal and hasn’t missed a training session, but then I don’t know what will happen. I hope he stays.’
