Arsenal Must Sell Before They Can Buy

Steven N’Zonzi is a major transfer target for Arsenal but the club have reportedly made it clear to manager Unai Emery that he must sell before he can bolster his squad.

Emery wasted no time revamping the squad he inherited from Arsene Wenger as he’s spent around £70m on five new signings with goalkeeper Bernd Leno, centre-back Sokratis, right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner and midfielder duo Lucas Torreira and Matteo Gue

Emery wants to spend another £25m to sign Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi . The pair worked together during their time at Sevilla and won the Europa League before Emery moved to Paris Saint-Germain and it looks like the Arsenal boss is hoping to be reunited with the 29-year-old in north London.

N’Zonzi’s future at Sevilla has been in serious doubt this summer and the newspaper says a deal would cost £25m meaning Emery’s spending would be around £95m if we were successful in luring the Frenchman to the Emirates.

One way for Emery’s to raise funds could be to sell Aaron Ramsey’s departure. The 27-year-old Wales midfielder’s contract runs out next June as there is no indications that he will sign a new contract at Arsenal.

Chelsea have reportedly expressed an interest in taking Ramsey to Stamford Bridge, but I am not convinced that selling Ramsey and replacing him with N’Zonzi is a step forward for Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger used to treat his Arsenal squads with kid gloves. Reluctant to push, challenge or upset them. That is not Emvery’s way. He has already show Jack Wilshere the door and it appears he is willing to do the same with Aaron Ramsey.

Another option for Emery could be to sell Shkodran Mustafi with Galatasaray reportedly interested in the defender.
