Paris Saint-Germain are still going all out to land Chelsea’s French international N’Golo Kante, despite the Premier League side’s attempts to ward of interest by offering the midfielder a new deal.
The Premier League club are prepared to make the World Cup winner their highest paid player at £290,000 a week, a contract that will certainly catch the interest of Chelsea star Eden Hazard.
The deal would see Kante earn up to £15million over five seasons, however, the Ligue 1 champions have the financial clout to better that package.
The 27-year-old, who joined for around £30m in 2016 and is contracted until 2021 under the terms of his current deal, played in every one of France’s World Cup games.
It was those World Cup performances that caught the attention of PSG, who have been uncharacteristically quiet in the transfer market this summer. Their only signing this summer so far has been Gianluigi Buffon joining on a free having left Juventus.
The club’s desire to add the France international has not been kept under wraps, however Tuchel refused to comment on the player when asked about him at a recent press conference.
‘It is not fair and I do not like it if other coaches talk about situations of players who are playing for other clubs,’ Tuchel said.
‘So there is no comment on Kante, of course, not for the transfer window.’
Kante has yet to join new boss Maurizio Sarri and the Chelsea squad for pre-season after lifting the World Cup in Russia. When he does arrive at Stamford Bridge. Sarri plans on using him on the right of recent addition Jorginho in a three-man midfield.
