According to former Italy stopper Paolo Conti, Roma’s Alisson is the ‘best goalkeeper in the world right now’.
The Brazil international has been a huge hit in the Eternal City and remains a target for Liverpool and Real Madrid.
Conti is adamant that Alisson is a better player than others in his position and believes the 25-year-old will be difficult to lure from his old club.
‘Alisson is certainly the best goalkeeper in the world right now,’ Conti told Radio Centro Suono Sport.
‘It’s almost impossible to set a market value for him, seeing the crazy figures that are flying around at the moment.
‘I said Alisson was excellent a long while back and now he is simply priceless. He has great intelligence and anticipates the moves of the opposition team.
‘He doesn’t need to make spectacular saves, because his positioning is so good.’
On Tuesday Alisson kept a clean sheet in Brazil’s 1-0 friendly victory against Germany as Joachim Low’s side tasted defeat for the first time in 23 matches.
No doubt the goalkeeper will have a major say in his side’s fortunes at the World Cup this summer and a strong campaign will inflate his price for potential suitors.
But best in the world? I don’t think so. At a minimum David de Gea, Thibaut Courtois, Manuel Neuer and Jan Oblak are all ahead of Alisson.
While Alisson has had a great season, I think you can make a case that he is not even the best goalkeeper in Serie A, with Gianluigi Buffon and Gianluigi Donnarumma ahead of him.
What do you think? Who is the best goalkeeper in the world?
