Wenger: I Am Not Poch..I Will Not Give Up On Title

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted that, unlike Tottenham Hotspur counterpart Mauricio Pochettino, he is refusing to give up on his side’s Premier League title chances just yet.

The Gunners suffered a 3-1 defeat to Manchester United at the Emirates on Saturday thanks to a superb performance from goalkeeper David de Gea.

The result leaves Arsenal fifth in the table, 15 points behind runaway league leaders Manchester City.

And while Tottenham manager Pochettino accepted recently that his side have little chance of lifting the crown , Wenger was unwilling to do likewise.

“I am not Pochettino, I am Arsene Wenger,” the Frenchman told reporters.

“I am here to fight as long as I can, as long as mathematically it’s possible you have to fight, you cannot give any other message out.”

Arsenal had 33 shots against United, but De Gea made an incredible 14 saves to deny Wenger’s team and he admitted it was difficult to accept the result but believes it should make his players even hungrier.

Today I am very angry because the team produced a quality performance with desire, they were strong mentally and overall in a game of that stature to have 33 shots on goal and nothing to show for it… I tell you tonight that I am absolutely angry. When you see the potential we have and in the end the way we started at the back is very difficult to swallow. We know we need to be dominant in the challenges and the first two goals are hard to accept.
