The agent for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Mino Raiola has revealed that the attacking midfielder is keen on a move to Manchester United this summer.
The Armenia international’s future has come under the spotlight in recent weeks after comments made by Raiola, which stated his client was not keen on signing a new deal with Borussia Dortmund.
Jose Mourinho has reportedly been keeping tabs on the 27-year-old as he looks to bolster his squad this summer and Thomas Tuchel certainly faces a fight to keep him at the Signal Iduna Park.
According to Bild, Manchester United have made a €24m offer for Mkhitaryan, who set up 32 goals and scored a further 23 in all competitions for the club last term, and the agent wants his player to move to United as soon as possible.
“Man Utd is a unique opportunity, Micki wants to go there,” Raiola told reporters (via Manchester Evening News).
The challenge for United might be persuading Dortmund to let Mkhitaryan go, despite having only one season left on hos contract and already telling Dortmund that he will not sign a new deal.
However, Dortmund, who have already sold key players Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gundogan to Bayern Munich and Manchester City, are in no mood to see another player leave this summer.
That Raiola is pushing another client towards United is really interesting. Raiola is the agent for Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimović.
It is said that one of the reasons that United let Pogba leave was that Sir Alex Ferguson and Raiola did not get along.
There appears to be a thaw in the relationship between United and Raiola with Ibra moving to Old Trafford next month, and that Raiola is openly linking United and Mkhitaryan.
If Ed Woodward cannot get a deal done this summer, expect United to come back and sign the talented Mkhitaryan to a pre-contract in January.
