Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger feels that the most surprising thing about the team’s victory over Hull City was the manner in which his team took their chances.
Arsenal produced some sensational attacking football on Monday as they swept Hull aside 3-1 and in reality the game was over by half-time.
Aaron Ramsey scored in-between an Alexis Sanchez double in the first half as Arsenal raced into a 3-0 lead and although Hull pulled a goal back the result was never in doubt.
Speaking after the game, Wenger said that he thought perhaps the team didn’t score when they deserved to but they then missed chances when they were on top.
“The surprising thing of the night is that we scored the goal that we didn’t necessarily deserve to score and we missed the chances we should have scored,” said Wenger.
Arsenal were in control for large parts of the game so it’s hard to know which periods Wenger was talking about, but there is no denying the beauty in some of the passages of football his team produce.
Santi Cazorla’s pass to Ramsey for the second was one the passes of the season, and Ramsey himself produced an equally delightful ball to set up Sanchez for the third.
The result keeps the Gunners third in the table but they do have a game in hand over second placed Manchester City.
