Ranieri sacked at Juventus

I was not surprised to read that Juventus have fired Claudio Ranieri and replaced him with their former defender Ciro Ferrara with the Bianconeri in danger of missing out on automatic qualification for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.

Our Serie A site has been covering this story for a couple of weeks now, as Juve have slipped further out of the title race, the cries for Ranieri’s head have grown increasingly louder.

The surprise is that Juve have made the move now with only two games left in the season. With only a point clear of fourth-placed Fiorentina with two matches remaining, Juve are obviously pushing the panic button.

Ferrara, who made 253 league appearances in an eleven-year spell with the Turin club, will take charge of this weekend’s match at AC Siena and the visit of S.S. Lazio on the final day of the season.
