Where Is Radamel Falcao Heading?

Radamel Falcao defends Monaco move - videoJust over a month ago, BeIn Sports broke the story that former Atletico Madrid and current Monaco star Radamel Falcao was heading back to Madrid to join the European Champions.

Falcao, who I consider to be the best center forward in the world, seemed like a natural fit for Madrid. While defenses were scared of Madrid’s BBC (Bale, Benzema, Cristiano) attack last season, they would have been terrified at the thought of facing Bale, Falcao and Ronaldo.

But then James Rodriguez starred at the World Cup and Real President Florentino Perez had to have the new shinny toy that is Rodriquez. Doesn’t matter that Falcao would actually have been a better signing for the Spanish giants, Perez had to have the star of the World Cup, and he got what he wanted.

So where does that leave Falcao? The striker only joined Monaco from Atletico Madrid last summer, but he is wants to leave the Ligue 1 club. Monaco are willing to loan the player out this season for a fee of £9.5 million, with £35.5 million to be paid next summer to make the deal permanent.

In today’s overinflated transfer market the £46 million for Falcao is a steal. Consider that in the past five season at Porto, Atletico and Monaco he has scored 153 goals in 197 games. That is a remarkable record.

But even at £46 million, there are only a handful of clubs in the world that could afford Falcao and they all play in the Premier League and the Express says that Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City and Man Utd are all interested in the Colombian striker.

I think we can discount Chelsea who have already spent big on Falcao’s replacement at Atletico this summer Diego Costa. But the striker would be a great fit for City or United, while the sale of Suarez allows Liverpool to compete financially with their two richer rivals.

Where do you think Falcao will end up? Would you like to see him at your club?
