Robert Lewandowski To Announce Bayern Move On Thursday

According to Polish TV host Mateusz Borek, Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski will announce his move to Bayern Munich on the 2nd January.

The fact that Borek sent the tweet just after the Polish striker had appeared on his show, ‘Football Café’ confirms what has been one of football’s worst kept secrets. That the Polish striker was heading to rivals Bayern Munich.

Lewandowski’s contract with Borussia Dortmund ends next summer, and there have been reports since this time last year that Lewandowski had already signed a pre contract with the German champions.

By all accounts Lewandowski was supposed to join Bayern this summer, but when Bayern surprisingly signed Dortmund’s Mario Götze last year, the Champions League runners-up told Lewandowski that he would have to wait before joining the European Champions.

To Lewandowski’s credit he did not sulk at Dortmund this season and his 11 goals make him joint top scorer in the Bundesliga this season.

Lewandowski has been a scoring machine in the Bundesliga since arriving from Lech Poznań. After a settling in period, Lewandowski has scored 82 goals in his last 120 games, a scoring record that puts him on par with the best strikers in Europe.

And it makes you wonder how many goals he will score at Bayern, considering the wealth of talent he will have around him, creating chance after chance. Bayern legend Gerd Müller holds the record for most goals in a single season at 40, but Lewandowski might well break that record next year.
