Two of the most wanted players in Spain are Atletico Madrid duo Diego Costa and Koke, and Chelsea have been told to take their pick as Atletico want to make the loan deal for goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
According to Tom Hopkinson in the Sunday People, Chelsea have told Atletico that Courtois will not be returning for a fourth season and that he will be staying at Stamford Bridge after next summer’s World Cup finals.
That has prompted Atletico to see if they can strike a permanent deal for the hugely talented youngster by using £20million-rated Costa as bait.
Jose Mourinho wants Courtois, the heir apparent to Petr Cech, to move to England and go out on loan to another Premier League club for the 2014-15 season. The The Blues also want Courtois, whose current contract runs until 2016, to sign a new deal through 2019.
The wildcard here is Barcelona who are in the hunt for a new goalkeeper with Victor Valdes leaving the club this summer. They have reportedly identified Courtois as their goalkeeper of the future, but Mourinho is reportedly not interested in selling to his his bitter rival. But could Atletico be looking to buy Coutois from Chelsea and then immediately “flip him” and sell him to Barcelona?
