According to AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani, the Milan side will go “to every possible tribunal” in their fight against the decision to order the club to play one match behind closed doors following ‘insulting’ chants by their fans.
“I hope that the stadium will be full for the Udinese game,” Galliani said during the press conference to announce AC Milan’s extended deal with kit manufacturer Adidas. “Without going into too much detail all I can say is that we will take our appeal against the decision to close our stadium to every possible tribunal. Before speaking to you I spoke to our club lawyer, Leandro Cantamessa. He told me to say ‘to every possible tribunal’, so, I say ‘to every possible tribunal’!”
The FIGC made the decision to make Milan play one home game behind closed doors after their fans were found guilty of “insulting” chanting towards Juventus fans.
It is the second time this season that Milan have been punished for the racially discriminatory behaviour of their fans, and according to reinforced rules from the summer, rather than only having a section of the San Siro closed, as was the case for their recent clash with Sampdoria, the entire stadium will be shut for the visit of Udinese on October 19.
Galliani went on to tell journalists that the ground closure decision had “no justification”.
“the chants weren’t even audible. Last night [Sunday 6 October] not one single newspaper or TV station made any mention of the chants, as probably there weren’t any. They were apparently only heard by a handful of members of the Federal Prosecutor’s Office. Perhaps they heard them when they were visiting the bathroom, or the bar, or who knows where…! I was at Juventus Stadium and I heard lots of chants against Balotelli, but nothing else.”
