Despite spending around €200m this summer in the transfer market, Monaco boss Claudio Ranieri is still looking to improve his side.
“The market is not really finished yet,” Ranieri told BeIN Sport.
“I’ll wait for after the next preparatory match and then I will talk to the president and sporting director.”
Monaco are tipped by many to challenge Paris Saint-Germain for the Ligue 1 title this year, but you would not know that from their preseason performances where they have lost their last two friendly matches.
After falling to German second league side Fortuna Dusseldorf 3-2, Les Rouge et Blanc lost 1-0 t0 Bundesliga side FC Augsbourg at the weekend, in a game where Falcao had to be dragged off at half-time in order to avoid being sent-off.
While Ranieri can say that he needs more quality and that it will take time for summer signings Falcao, James Rodriguez, Joao Moutinho, Eric Abidal, Ricardo Carvalho, and Jeremy Toulalan to build up an understanding with each other, the unknown question is how much patience will Monaco owner Dmitry Rybolovlev have with Ranieri?
Will he give the Italian the time he needs to get his Monaco squad playing together or will Ranieri once again be fired by a Russian owner with an itchy trigger finger?
