Tottenham Hotspur boss Andre Villas-Boas insists that Gareth Bale will not leave Spurs this summer, despite being openly tapped up by Real Madrid players and officials.
Real Madrid have been utilizing all their common tactics to unsettle Bale. Real President Florentino Pérez has spent more time this summer talking about Bale than Cristiano Ronaldo. Madrid club ambassador Zinedine Zidane has made a number of flattering comments about Bale and recently hinted that he needed to hand in a transfer request to force Spurs into action.
According to AVB, Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy has told him that the Premier League Player of the Year will not be leaving the club this summer
“Bale isn’t leaving Spurs”he told Marca.
“We have the pledge of the chairman that Bale is not going to leave the club.”
Last week Paris Saint-Germain were after AVB to replace Carlo Ancelotti, who ironically is heading to Real Madrid. AVB reportedly turned down €10m a year for four years from PSG to stay at White Hart Lane and I cannot see him agreeing to stay at Spurs without some assurances that Bale is staying.
While £85m is an incredible amount of money for Spurs to turn down, the massive new TV contract that kicks in this season means that Spurs can generate enough cashflow to bring in some quality players this summer, without having to resort to selling their top players.
Also, Bale is still only 23. He really blossomed under AVB and if he can better the 31 goals he scored for club and country last season who knows what he will be worth in a years time!
