The agent for Queen Park Rangers goalkeeper Julio Cesar says that it is too soon to say where his client will be playing his football next season after QPR’s relegation.
The Brazilian international has been linked with a possible return to Serie A after links with Milan and Roma.
“Any discussion about the future is totally premature,” Josias Cardoso told calciomercato.it in an interview. “There is nothing concrete right now.
“I’ll be in Europe in two weeks’ time to talk to Julio, but until a club agrees something with QPR then we can’t talk to anyone else.
“A return to Italy? Julio would like to join and stay with any club who want to count on him. But I want to underline that he has a contract at QPR until 2016.
“A return to Brazil? I don’t think so. If they decide to sell him then I’d expect him to remain in the European game.”
QPR will sell Cesar over the summer. He was very inconsistent this season, and is ending the season as QPR’s back-up keeper behind Rob Green.
The challenge for Cesar and his agent is that he is not the same goalkeeper as the one who won 14 trophies in seven years with Inter including the historic treble in 2010.
He has never recovered from his blunder in the 2010 World Cup with Brazil, and has been dogged with persistent rumours that he has a long-standing arm injury.
The name Julio Cesar brings up the image of a world class goalkeeper, one of the best in the world. That was the case three years ago. That is not the case today. And hopefully whoever does sign Cesar can separate the name from the player.
