Arsene Wenger To PSG Rumours Will Not Go Away

Arsene WengerArsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been linked with a move to Paris St-Germain for the better part of a year. The stories will not go away, and with PSG manager Carlo Ancelotti expected to move to Real Madrid this summer, and sporting director Leonardo also expected to leave at the end of the season also, things are lining up for Wenger to return to France this summer.

According to Paul Hayward, Chief Sports Writer of the Telegraph, PSG’s Qatari owners believe that Wenger will join them this summer, despite having 12-months left on his contract at Arsenal.

It is clear to understand the allure of PSG. They have spent heavily on the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Javier Pastore and Ezequiel Lavezzi, and can seal their first league title since 1994 this weekend.

They are one of the rising forces in European football, and unlike at Arsenal, money will not be a object at Paris. Wenger will be able to go out and sign the best talents in Europe, knowing that few, if any, sides can outbid them.

Asked about the rumours coming out of France connecting him to Ancelotti’s job, Wenger said after the 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Sunday:

“First of all I don’t know too much about what’s been said about me. Then I’m concentrating on the next game and the next season. At the end of my contract I’ll see what I can do. I’ve always respected my contracts. I can’t see at my age why that should change.”

Not exactly a statement that says he is saying at the Emirates. If he does move back to France, Wenger will have his choice of managing or sporting director.
