FIFA have announced their World XI, but not one Premier League player was in the final team. In fact, every single one of the players to make the team plays in La Liga.
Representing five countries in all, the dream team of 2012 features five Real Madrid players, five from Barcelona and one from Atletico Madrid.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi make their record 6th appearance in the World XI with Xavi and Iker Casillas in for the fifth time.
The only potential disagreement could be that former Arsenal striker Robin van Persie was not included in 11. But how can you overlook Falcao, who scored 44 goals for Atletico in 2012 including five against Deportivo in December.
Fifa Dream XI of 2012:
Iker Casillas in goal; Sergio Ramos, Gerard Pique, Daniel Alves and Marcelo in defence; Xabi Alonso, Xavi and Andres Iniesta in midfield, and the deadly trio of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Radamel Falcao up front.
