Will Rafa Replace Allegri As Milan Manager?

Rafael Benitez’s agent says his client would be willing to speak to AC Milan should the Rossoneri approach them about a role with the club.

Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri, who led the team to the Scudetto two seasons ago, has come under fire after an embarrassing goalless draw at home to Anderlecht in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.

The result follows on from Milan’s two defeats in their opening three Serie A games as well as a summer of discontent amongst fans who were angered by the sales of star players Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva to Paris Saint-Germain.

Benitez has not worked since being fired from Inter Milan in December 2010 and contrary to reports has not been in contact with AC Milan yet. However, his agent Manuel Garcia Quilon insists the former Liverpool boss would be open to future discussions.

“It’s not true that Benitez has offered himself to Milan,” he told TuttoMercatoWeb.

“If Milan called us then we’ll talk because we listen to everyone – both in Italy and abroad. If the Rossoneri should call then Benitez would listen to their offer and evaluate it carefully.”

Italian media has speculated that a poor result for Milan in Sunday’s game away to Udinese could costs Allegri his job.
