Italian champions AC Milan have finally agreed to extend the contracts of defender Thiago Silva and midfielder Mark van Bommel until 2016 and 2012 respectively.
Thiago Silva joined Milan from Fluminense in January 2009 but it was not until the following campaign that he made his Serie A debut, soon establishing himself as one of the best centre-backs in Italian football. Capped 13 times by Brazil, the 26-year-old has made 32 appearances this season.
The 34-year-old Van Bommel arrived in Milan on a free transfer in January after cancelling his contract with Bayern Munich. The former PSV Eindhoven and FC Barcelona player quickly became a key figure in the Rossoneri midfield playing 13 Serie A matches. He has been saying for months that he wanted to stay in Milan, and it is good move for Massimiliano Allegri’s side to sign him for another season.
