Roma has announced it is ready to negotiate a sale to American businessman Thomas Di Benedetto, a part owner of the parent company of the Boston Red Sox and Liverpool.
Members of the Roma’s management have been in the United States for over a week to try to find buyers, and chose Di Benedetto’s company Di Benedetto AS Roma LLC ahead of four other offers.
A club announcement Thursday says the American company “present themselves as the most competitive offer.”
The two parties hope to conclude the deal within two weeks.
Di Benedetto is a partner in the Fenway Sports Group, formerly New England Sports Ventures, which owns the Red Sox, Fenway Park, Liverpool, New England Sports Network and Roush-Fenway Racing.
