This could be an unprecedented summer in the Serie A as Inter, AC Milan and Juventus are all expected to name new coaches.
Inter boss Jose Mourinho is expected to head to Spain this summer and take over at Real Madrid. Mourinho is on course to win a historic treble with Inter this season. They have already won the Coppa Italia, and are on course to add the Serie A title and the Champions League.
Inter president Massimo Moratti has said the coach’s future will be a matter for discussion after the season amid speculative reports that the club were trying to tie him down to an extension.
“Mourinho’s future? We will see after the finals games of term,” Moratti told the press recently.
So who will replace Mourinho at Inter? Well according to La Gazzetta dello Sport that could be England coach Fabio Capello. La Gazzeta says that Capello is expected to step down as England boss after the World Cup and that his no nonsense, tough guy approach to coaching appeals to Inter.
Meanwhile, over in Turin, Tuttosport are still speculating over who will come in as new Juventus coach.
Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez, who was the favourite in Turin, hinted he could stay at Anfield following Sunday’s clash against Hull City. Fiorentina’s Cesare Prandelli and Sampdoria coach Luigi Del Neri are strong candidates for the job:
“I would like to coach Juventus,” Del Neri is reported as saying.”
