Mallorca and Málaga occupy the top two places in the Liga after earning slender 1-0 wins against Real Sociedad and Real Zaragoza respectively. Their stay at the summit may not last long as a host of teams, including Barcelona, play later in the weekend, but both are enjoying an unbeaten start to the season.
Champions League debutants Málaga have seen several big-name departures in recent weeks, but grabbed their second 1-0 win of the campaign at La Romareda. Ignacio Camacho struck early in the second period and Manuel Pellegrini’s side held firm for their fourth clean sheet in five matches in all competitions. Mallorca pipped Real Sociedad by the same scoreline thanks to Víctor’s strike, 15 minutes from time.
Standing in stark contrast are Osasuna, who came away from their trip to Celta Vigo with their third successive defeat. Iago Aspas broke the deadlock midway through the second half, and Celta exploited a straight red card for Alejandro Arribas late on to make it 2-0 in added time via Mario Bermejo.
Elsewhere Deportivo Coruña and Getafe drew 1-1.
