Valencia has won six La Liga titles, seven Copa del Rey trophies, two Fairs Cups (which was the predecessor to the UEFA Cup), one UEFA Cup, one UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup, and two UEFA Super Cups. They also reached two UEFA Champions League finals in a row, losing to La Liga rivals Real Madrid in 2000 and then to German club Bayern Munich on penalties after a 1–1 draw in 2001. Valencia were also members of the G-14 group of leading European football clubs. In total, Valencia have reached seven major European finals, winning four of them.
Getting to the Mestalla stadium
If you live outside Spain you will probably decide to travel to Valencia by plane. The main city airport is Valencia-Manises. Many low-cost airlines such as Ryanair, Vueling or Easyjet operate flights to Valencia from several locations in Europe. If you are arriving from outside Europe, you will probably find it easier to fly into Madrid, and then take either a connecting flight (55mins) or a high-speed train (90mins) to Valencia.
The airport is connected to the city by the underground metro train. Take Line 5 (green colour) train, which will show ‘Maritim Serrería’ as its destination, and get off at Aragón. You will find the stadium right in front of you. The journey takes around 25 minutes, and tickets are inexpensive.
If you take a taxi, it should cost you no more than €20.
If you travel to Valencia by train you will either arrive at Estació del Nord (most regional services), or Joaquin Sorrolla (most inter-city and high speed trains from Madrid or Barcelona).

A Fan’s Experience of Going to the Mestalla Stadium
I am a huge soccer fan. I have been following the sport since I was a young child and have been lucky enough to see some amazing matches in person. But there is one stadium that has always eluded me: Mestalla Stadium, home of Valencia CF. Recently, I was finally able to check this stadium off my bucket list and it did not disappoint. Here is my experience of visiting Mestalla Stadium.
Mestalla Stadium is the home stadium of Valencia Club de Fútbol in Valencia, Spain. It has a capacity of 55,000 seats and is one of the largest and oldest stadiums in Spain. The stadium is named after José Mestre, who was a club president in the 1920s.
I decided to buy my tickets in advance so that I could guaranteed my spot at the game. I ended up paying a bit more than I wanted to, but it was worth it. When the day of the game arrived, I made my way to the stadium. The closer I got, the more excited I became.
I arrived at the stadium early to find my seat. I was seated in the upper deck, which gave me a great view of the entire field. The atmosphere inside the stadium was electric; all of the fans were cheering and chanting for their team.
The game itself was great. Valencia won 3-1 and the fans were ecstatic. They sang and danced in the stands throughout the entire match. It was an amazing experience and one that I will never forget.
If you are a soccer fan, then you should definitely try to go to a game at Mestalla Stadium. The experience is unlike any other. You will be able to feel the history and see how passionate the fans are. It is truly an unforgettable experience.
