Big spending Malaga are set to splash the money this season with Manchester City strikers Emmanuel Adebayor and Edin Dzeko reportedly high on their wish list
Manager Manuel Pellegrini has told the club that he wants to bring in a quality striker to replace the retiring Ruud Van Nistelrooy and has targeted one of the two out of favor Man City strikers.
”We’ll have to wait and see whether or not we bring in a star player, it’s all down to money,” he told reporters.
“Van Nistelrooy has left, and his replacement won’t bear his name but he will be a player of the highest caliber.”
Neither striker will be cheap, and it has been reported that Malaga will ask for a loan move with an option to make the deal permanent after the year.
After failing to cement his place in Manchester City’s starting squad in a year and a half, Adebayor spent the 2011/12 season on loan at the White Hart Lane with Tottenham Hotspurs.
Adebayor openly suggested last summer that he is open for a La Liga move with Real Madrid his reported target. However, the towering attacker recently suggested that a move to La Rosaleda will be enticing.
Dzeko was a prolific scorer with Wolfsburg is Germany, but he failed to settle in at Man City and command a regular place in the line-up as Roberto Mancini has preferred Carlos Tevez and Sergio Agüero as his two main strikers.
In addition to a new center forward, Malaga are said to be interested in a creative midfielder, a right back and a central defender.
