The U.S. is the place to be this summer as Real Madrid has announced that they will be playing D.C. United on August 9th at FedEx Field in suburban Maryland.
The teams met in Seattle two years ago, playing to a 1-1 draw. United is second in Major League Soccer’s Eastern Conference with three wins and seven ties in 11 games. In La Liga, Madrid will finish in second place behind rival Barcelona, which also won the Spanish cup and the European Champions League this season.
Madrid lacks the star-studded roster of previous teams, but still has several world-class players, including Raul Gonzalez, Sergio Ramos and Iker Casillas. Any new summer signings would also be scheduled to play.
The U.S. is a long way to come for one game, so I expect one or two more games to be added to the schedule. When ticket information and opponents are announced we will update the page.
