There are reports coming out of Italy that if AC Milan fail to beat Udinese on Sunday that manager Massimiliano Allegri will be fired.
Allegri orchestrated a clearing out of the AC Milan dressing room this summer, letting many of the club’s veteran players go as well as selling Milan’s two best players in Silva and Ibra.
But the moves have backfired for Allegri as the Rossoneri have had a miserable start to the season. Milan have played four games so far this season in all competitions, but their only win has come at Bologna in Week 2.
Amazingly, Milan have failed to score in any of their home games this season at the San Siro, losing to both Sampdoria and Atalanta, as drawing 0-0 draw against Anderlecht in the Champions League. The two home defeats is the first time that the Rossoneri have lost back-to-back home games to begin a season in 82 years.
One of the problems that Allegi has is that he has not changed his tactics despite losing Ibrahimovic, who was the focal point of the Milan attack last season. Allegi is still using a 4-3-1-2 formation with Kevin-Prince Boateng playing behind Giampaolo Pazzini and Stephan El-Shaarawy, a formation that does not suit anyone as neither forward is good at holding the ball up and nobody is providing any width in attack.
Stories in the Italian media today claim that Milan President Silvio Berlusconi has seen enough as wants to fire Allegri, while vice-President Adriano Galliani wants to give Allegri at least under this weekends trip to Udinese to turn things around.
Reports suggest that should Allegri get fired fired that assistant coach Mauro Tassotti would be handed an opportunity until the end of the season.
