In a move reminiscent of how Nicolas Anelka and Alex were treated last season, Florent Malouda has been told that he will train with with the youth.
Malouda tweeted this earlier today (@realflorentm)
Chelsea basically told Malouda that he could leave this summer, but 32-year-old midfielder could not find anyone willing to meet his current Chelsea wages of £70,000-a-week. So instead of taking a pay cut, Malouda decided to stay at Chelsea, and draw his wages for the 12 months until he is free to sign with someone else.
It’s a remarkable fall from grace for Malouda who came on as a sub in last season’s Champions League final and was included in France’s squad for Euro 2012.
